Good post with a lot of great points. Business' engaging in blogging is definitely a pretty strong trend. I've seen many companies initiate blogs in hopes of achieving better outreach and distributing information in a new way to tap into various audiences. Great point about employees and team building/communication too.

It must be a good idea. I've been seeing more company blogs lately and I have heard of people who have been hired just to blog for the company.

I have been suggesting it to my company for a couple of years now but they are still wary of customer service implications and worried about the best way to control content without sounding too canned.
