Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

There are many ways to use Google search to find information, but a dedicated blogger needs to know which ones are likely to help him get the information he needs.

For basic tips and tricks using Google the Google’s tips and tricks pdf is as good a place to start as anywhere. But if you are blogging and looking for ways to suss out the competition and find long tailed keywords that are highly audience targeted, then it doesn’t really help. So if you want some Google search tips and tricks that might help, then read on.

Using the Google Traffic Estimator Keyword Tool

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

The Google Traffic Estimator keyword tool is a tool that Google uses to display how many search enquiries have been made on a month by month basis for a particular search term (keyword or keyword phrase). Strictly speaking it is not a traffic estimator as it actually presents data collected from the previous month based on actual enquiries put into the search engine. It is fairly clear though that by using actual data collected on a month by month basis you can in fact make reasonable assumptions as to the popularity of particular keyword or keyword phrase and then of course use that data as a traffic estimator.

Website Search Optimization – Keyword Phrases

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Selection of keyword phrases is one of the most important factors to be considered when completing a website search optimization exercise, but to be sure everyone is actually familiar with exactly what a keyword is, here is a definition. In a nutshell a keyword is a word or phrase that is written into a search engine enquiry form by someone who is looking for a specific piece of information, a specific product or a specific service.

For example if you want information on how to optimise your website for higher levels of traffic you may type ‘website optimization’ into a search engine enquiry form and in return you would expect the search engine to provide a list of websites that are discussing that specific topic. Ideally the search engines will put at the top of the list websites that are most relevant to that particular keyword phrase so that you can find the exact information you are looking for when you visit the listed site.

Blogging to a specific market

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

When you create blogs targeted at a specific or niche market it is worth considering writing more than one blog  so that you can capture a wider range of keywords via the domain names. You can of course cover the keywords within the posts on a single blog and this is still quite a powerful method especially if you place the keywords in the title of the blog post. But imagine the affect if you can capture relatively high enquiry keywords in both the domain name and the blog title then target the less popular keywords in the post titles and text.

I think you will see that this can actually be a powerful way of bringing traffic to your blogs, plus you can link the blogs together pointing to each other giving back links that are relevant. Add to that articles that are written to direct traffic to all of the blogs independently and by default your articles are now potentially connecting your audience with all of your blogs on the subject or market of interest. If everything is well written and keyword rich you can direct a large part of your target audience to all of your blogs across a wide range of enquiries or keyword phrases.

Below is a simple example of this strategy at the early stages of developing a presence in a niche market: -

Competition is fierce online, and the top places on the search result pages are the most hunted for; therefore, any blog owner who tries to make money on the Internet needs to use a whole strategy to attract the best visitors and the highest traffic. The working principle for the blog optimization for search engines is the keyword. When you start the race for SEO (search engine optimization), you already have an advantage: blogs are usually the ones to receive more traffic than other complex sites due to their highly informational content. By keywords we mean those sentences or structures that a user types in the search box of an engine, ideally your chosen domain name and titles will be what I call keyword rich i.e. will consist of the words that get entered into the search engines when someone is looking for the theme of your blog.
