In principle this is a good approach, you write an article that can stand alone and submit to article directories, then use the resource section to point to your website where the visitor can find more information on the same subject. Personally I would not use the same words with additions but rather write a new, much more detailed article on the same subject. The reason I say this is that your visitor is likely to start reading, think I have already read this and leave before they get to the new stuff. Writing a different article makes the content unique and more informative which appeals to both the search engines and your human audience. The price of course is more work!!

As for me, what's good is tweaking the article a little bit. It's good to write one original article for submission to article directories, then use that same article by adding some paragraphs to it, for use on your blog.

I think that article directories have taken a bit of a hit for the moment, but I still think the quality sites that review articles submitted to them properly and with humans will regain their status. The real target is or should be the directories that publish any load of rubbish that is barely comprehendable but somehow still make it onto the first page of search results, these are typically articles that have been re-spun with software that is rubbish and consequently produces rubbish. I also don't think you should see all results on the 1st or 2nd page all returned from the same domain or carrying the same title and content, no matter how highly that domain is ranked.

So there lies the dilemma, an algorithm smart enough to screen out re-spun rubbish, spot the same content (they can do this) and find the single most relevant post on a well ranked domain to give the enquirer a real choice on quality content. Not an easy task with a computer and probably why Google have given users of Google Chrome the option to block results from defined sources, effectively a human review of the content being delivered by their customers.

It just shows that the latest algorithm change with google has really messed things up for some online marketers and some article directories. All becuase of duplicate content, I have been putting a few of my own sites to the test lately, some have done better from the change, great and well thought about posts etc. whilst others have had severe lower rankings, mainly because the content is not so great.

Not plagiarized articles, just articles that have probably been written similarly hundreds of times before. You can see why Ezine are really clamping down and making sure that each submitted article is of high value - they want them with peoples own experience on the subject now.

Yes there is illegal duplication, for example when you take someone else's article and publish it as your own with no credit back to the original source; that is plagiarism. Strictly speaking article spinning of your own content and written material is not illegal but if identified by the search engines it would be considered spam if published on the same domain as the original and would be marked down.

Typically the article spinning software does not do a good job of rearranging the original information and to the human eye it is pretty obvious it has been spun. So you do need to consider your human audience, a badly re-spun article that adds no value over and above an original article on the same site is just a spamming method and would be dimly viewed. Not good for the reputation and if the search engines find a way to identify these types of articles that will almost certainly mark the end of them.

There are many types of duplication and there are legal and illegal. Like the article spinning it is a king of duplication right?
