The best blogs are created by talented people in their favorite fields. These blogs are created by experts with a combination of motivation and inspiration which permeates their work. They’re generally acknowledged as the best blogs in the world. It’s no accident that these blogs are successful. They’re often also created using techniques which anyone with sales training would recognize.

Sales and talent- A good working partnership

Ironically, it’s not often recognized that some of the best salespeople in the world are in fact experts in their fields. A good salesperson often knows more about the product and its issues in the marketplace than the manufacturers. Some academic bloggers are better informed than industry experts, because their frame of reference is a lot bigger, and backed by a better knowledge base.

The fact is that successful blogs, like good sales techniques, are based on credibility. Information quality is defined by talent as much as content. Well-expressed, insightful blogs often provide more actual value than a simplistic statement of “news” without background and speculation.
The same techniques that are used in sales are also good blogging practice. Bloggers often use a range of sales techniques to explain issues and the ramifications of subject matter. Far more importantly, these techniques also allow expression of the ideas based on personal talent.
You can see the issues. Talent and expertise need outlets, and a blog is definitely the best option for outlets with maximum flexibility and scope for development of ideas. They’re also the primary mechanism for effective, interesting, blogging. These skills need a good working base. The “sales” technique is actually the best approach to dealing with these issues.

If you’re trying to explain an idea or make a criticism, your information needs to be well developed. The most successful blogs are just that. They’re masterpieces of good presentation of ideas and information, exactly like a good sales approach.

Talent- The basis of achievement

Talent is perhaps the most personal of things. Everyone has a talent, the pity is that most people don’t or can’t use their talents effectively. Blogs are the best possible vehicle for talent, and they can also provide a range of options for personal expression of talent not available in other spheres.

Personal achievement in any area of talent is priceless. Nothing is more satisfying, and in some cases more vindicating of skills, creative insight and abilities. A blog can deliver a statement or an idea unambiguously, with unlimited space and no external “controls” over expression.
This achievement-based effect is also, interestingly, based on a series of principles related to of all things customer service training- Directly addressing issues, concerns and areas of interest to the blog audience. Blogs are based on audience interest and often immediate personal and/or professional issues.

The other big issue with talent is the higher skills base which talents provides. Truly talented people often have particularly penetrant insights which may be well over and above the norm in their areas of expertise. Talent is the epitome of personal commitment, and that’s what raises these blogs above the herd. The more talented the blogger, the more successful the blog.

    I think besides talent a good blogger must have a deep knowledge of what it is they are writing. Let’s remember that blogging is not only for business but for sharing experiences, so a good blogger must gain the trust of their readers. However, on business blogs it’s not only about knowing deep issues of the market or being a guru in their field. This is a matter reaching people by words. And for that every blogger should know how to write a good web copy that makes sales. In other words every blogger that pretends to blog for business must know the basics of copywriting. More than talent, a blogger should have enough experience. People are not born with talent, we acquire it thanks to our experiences.

    Hi Daniel, for sure knowledge is very important and of course doing research can create knowledge because at the end of the day knowledge comes from learning. You are right about blogging being to share experiences as well, it’s not just about business it is also about building relationships and actually trying to help people out. If you can do that first and foremost everything else will follow. I do think people are born with talent, but sometimes life’s experiences or lack of confidence can cause people not to use their natural talent. Nice comment, glad you took the time.
