The Power of Pay Per Click

Today’s post is from guest writer Mike Seddon’ who is a pay per click ad specialist.

As business owners we live in interesting times! For many of us the internet has changed the way we do business.

Some business owners have already embraced these changes and are seeing dramatic growth in the business.

Others are trying to ignore the internet and hoping it is a fad that will go away. It is not a fad. It will not go away and their businesses are probably doomed if they do not change their thinking.

Why do I say this? Why am I convinced the internet is a maker of businesses?

Simply because one of the huge opportunities the internet offers us today is to radically change the way we advertise.

The internet has brought us Pay Per Click advertising and that has brought us highly targeted, results based advertising. This is something that has been missing in most other advertising media prior to the internet.

Let me first explain Pay Per Click advertising to those of you that are new to the idea.

I’m sure you have all seen the websites that are listed on the right hand side of the screen whenever you do a search in Google. Those are adverts and the advertisers pay Google whenever anyone clicks on their advert.

That’s why it is called Pay Per Click. They pay for each click their advert receives and they only pay if the advert is clicked on.

That’s one of the huge benefits of Pay Per Click. You only pay for leads (ie: visitors to your website). Can you think of any other form of advertising that only charges you for results?

The other distinction is that those adverts only appear when people type certain words into Google. Each advertiser will choose words that they are prepared for their adverts to appear against and they will only pay when their adverts gets clicked on.

By choosing carefully the right words, an advertiser can target their adverts to appear very specifically for phrases that potential customers will be using when looking for their products.

This is why Pay Per Click advertising is so powerful. If you set it up correctly you can display your adverts to people who need your goods at the specific moment they are looking for your goods and you only pay for those people that visit your site when they click on your advert.

In a nutshell, that is very highly targeted results based advertising at its very best.

Of course, Pay Per Click requires a new set of skills. For one thing you need to think carefully about the words you want your adverts to appear for. The adverts themselves also need some thought because you can now write adverts specifically targeted to the different words your potential customers will be using to find your products.

Pay Per Click is not as easy as placing an advert in the newspaper or onto your local radio station. However the rewards can be significant.

If you haven’t tried Pay Per Click advertising then it’s time you started. It will not be long before your competitors discover Pay Per Click (assuming that they haven’t already!).

There are a number of Pay Per Click services available but by far the most well known one is Google Adwords. It’s also considered by many to be the best Pay Per Click service.
