Everything You Need to Know For Working From Home Using Blogging

So what are the advantges of Vlogs?

Posted by BlogTime On March - 26 - 2010

Before discussing the advantages Vlogs we should first of all discuss what vlogs are exactly? The general term refers to a number of web pages that choose to use videos as journal entries instead of articles. Presented in a reverse chronological order, they are a great way to supplement or replace photos and text. Depending on the nature of the videos, there may be a need to include additional comments to make the information more relevant.

The great part about vlogs is that they perfectly meet the present-day tendency of communicating via the Internet on a very familiar basis i.e. when you see the person behind the text, the blog seems to actually become a little more personal. It is an enhancement or step up from having an author photo and biography. Of course this is dependent on how they are being used because sometimes you may never see an actual person as an alternative use is to employ them as a video instruction for completing a task or perhaps as an item of entertainment provided for visitors amusement.

Most video blogs use some form of web syndication in order to upload and spread the videos online and at the basis of every transmission lies the RSS technology or format. Presently, vlogs, may even be accessed on mobile devices such as pods and mobile phones. Though, the very vlog phenomenon started as a group effort, things have changed since then and now there are lots of individual video logs that are authored by people who make a hobby out of it. It’s useful to know that content contributors can get paid for their share in the process: on the sole condition that they upload viable material.

Let’s take the case of the Google video blogs that enjoyed massive success all around the world. Uploading and sharing videos was a simple procedure on http://googlevideo.blogspot.com/, and Google also provided a directory of vlogs where you could search for whatever you were looking for. A similar example of a vlog collection that is also administered by Google is the very popular YouTube, which has attracted thousands of users ever since its beginnings in 2005. Google video blogs have now stopped accepting new uploads but they do still retain the libraries they had before they stopped accepting new videos.

There are other options however and you can find a list of alternatives to YouTube here where there is a top ten list of Alternative Vlog sites.

The vlog working principles are less complex than those specific to a regular blog, though the basics are alike. For instance, if you join a video blog community, you’ll need your own channel, and signing up is usually required in order to be able to follow the rest of the necessary steps. Once you have a channel, you can simply organize the favorite shows, videos or podcasts from everywhere in the world or simply load and send them across the web. Ipods, iPhones and iTunes are perfectly compatible with vlogs, so that you can pretty much take the web with you everywhere you go.

Many bloggers use Vlogs pretty exclusively to communicate and sometimes it can appear that not enough consideration is given to what is being communicated and how the information needs to be used. There is no doubt that the use of video can be useful to demonstrate a procedure for instance. But that does not necessarily mean it is always the best way, often an eBook or even a post with a few well chosen graphics and a clearly written and accurate set of instructions will do the job better than a video. If when you are trying to follow some video instructions you find yourself re-running the video and making notes then that will be the proof of the point that perhaps and alternative method or combined method would have been better than a pure Vlog.

So the real advantages of Vlogs only really come into play when the Vlogs are used appropriately and for the right reasons i.e.
